# Overview

Receipt endpoints mounted at `/receipts`.

## Withholding tax on receipts

When a customer pays an invoice net of withholding tax, the receipt records the tax withheld.

| `wht_tax_id` | The withholding tax profile applied, or null.                                                                                                                                                                  |
| `wht_rate`   | The rate applied, as a percentage.                                                                                                                                                                             |
| `wht_base`   | The amount the rate was applied to. Unless a base was set on the receipt, it follows the profile's `withholding_basis`: the VAT-exclusive share of `amount` for `EXCL_VAT`, or `amount` itself for `INCL_VAT`. |
| `wht_amount` | The tax the customer withheld.                                                                                                                                                                                 |

`amount` on the receipt is the gross settled against the invoice, so the invoice is cleared at its full value. The cash received is `amount` less `wht_amount` and any `discount_amount`, and the withheld amount is held in the profile's withholding tax receivable account as a credit against your own tax. Receipts without withholding return a null `wht_tax_id` and `0.00` for the other fields.

## Early-payment discounts

When a customer settles an invoice inside the discount window of its payment term, the receipt records the discount allowed in `discount_amount`. `amount` is still the gross settled against the invoice, so the invoice is cleared at its full value, and the discount is posted to the Sales Returns and Allowances account. Receipts without a discount return `0.00`.
